The digital world

Module Overview

Originated by: Dr Eduardo Santos

The phrase ‘digital world’ is commonly used when defining the need for digital citizenship, digital fluency, and digital literacy. The digital world is the availability and use of digital tools to communicate on the Internet, digital devices, smart devices and other technologies.

This module looks at building awareness about the digital world and developing safety skills when dealing with the digital technologies, namely within the social web.

We will explore

  • How to ensure social media safety
  • Watching a YouTube video about social media safety
  • Setting up a Facebook page for the class
  • Making sure the safety settings are activated
  • Class activities

We are continously working to improve and update our material to ensure it is meeting the needs of students and teachers alike.

Our programmes include a range of learning materials to support both teachers and students in the classroom. Content wise, each module is different but some components are common to all to provide assessment tools for teachers and familiar references for students.

This module includes

  • Lesson plan
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • Observation of thoughts
  • Teacher assessment

We believe that some topics are approached more powerfully by bringing in animation. That is why some of the topics have videos to illustrate the learning points
