Module Overview
Originated by Dr. Sue Barker
Mindfulness is the psychological process of bringing one’s attention to the internal and external experiences occurring in the present moment. This can be developed in children and adults through the practice of meditation and other training. The recent popularity of mindfulness in the West is generally considered to have been initiated by Jon Kabat-Zinn. In this module, we look at how mindfulness can cultivate compassion, empathy for others, reduce anxiety and stress, help to adapt to a rapidly changing world, being a caring and committed citizen, creativity, and develop problem solving skills.
