Computer Vision

Module Overview

Originated by Dr. Sinisa Sigvic

Computer vision is an interdisciplinary field that deals with how computers can be made to gain high-level understanding from digital images or videos. From the perspective of engineering, it is based around tasks that the human visual system can do.

Computer vision tasks include methods for acquiring, processing, analyzing and understanding digital images, and extraction of high-dimensional data from the real world in order to produce numerical or symbolic information, e.g., in the forms of decisions.

In this module, pupils will work together on small bitesize activities on: How machines sense their surroundings, an introduction to electronic circuits, what is meant by logic?, switching and binary code

We will explore

  • Understanding different levels of AI
  • How AI is used now
  • How can machines learn?
  • Exploring sensing electronics
  • How transistors work
  • How sensors work
  • How sensors help machines make decisions

All modules are delivered to you via email through a downloadable link.

Our programmes include a range of learning materials to support both teachers and students in the classroom. Content wise, each module is different but some components are common to all to provide assessment tools for teachers and familiar references for students.

This module includes

  • Lesson activity plan
  • Observational worksheet
  • Reflection worksheet
  • Power point

We believe that some topics are approached more powerfully by bringing in animation. That is why some of the topics have videos to illustrate the learning points
