Creating our own worldview

Module Overview

Originated by: Dr Felicia Rivera Megret

Awareness may be focused on an internal state, such as a visceral feeling, or on external events by way of sensory perception. A person’s awareness is determined by his or her thoughts and the focus at any one time and this, over time creates our own world view. This can be influenced by a wide variety of external things such as environment, culture, and perceptions of safety, comfort and support.

This module looks at philosophy and how it fits with education.

We will explore

  • What is philosophy?
  • Why do we need it?
  • What is the philosophy of education?
  • How does this shape our world view?
  • Knowing our values
