Eating disorders

Module Overview

Originated by Prof. Jukka Jolkkonen

An eating disorder is defined by abnormal eating habits that negatively affect a person’s physical or mental health. There are many types of eating disorders and the reason for people developing them is not always clear. Treatment of eating disorders is an individual process. In this module we look at what eating disorders look like and how students can identify these. We look at what a healthy diet constitutes and how to make healthy choices.

We will explore

  • What are eating disorders?
  • Why do people have eating disorders?
  • What is a healthy diet?
  • How can we eat a healthy diet
  • Making healthy food choices
