Module Overview

Originated by: Prof Dimitar Elchinov

Linguistics is the scientific study of language and involves an analysis of language form, language meaning, and language in context. Linguists traditionally analyse human language by observing an interplay between sound and meaning.

This module looks at linguistics from KS2 to KS5 and includes resources suited to this age spectrum.

We will explore

  • Building blocks of language
  • The importance of stories
  • How neurons help us create language
  • Neurons and synapses – making the connection
  • The cerebral cortex

We are continously working to improve and update our material to ensure it is meeting the needs of students and teachers alike.

We believe that some topics are approached more powerfully by bringing in animation. That is why some of the topics have videos to illustrate the learning points
